The first time Dato’ Seri Mustapa Mohamed boarded an airplane was to travel to Melbourne to take up a Colombo Plan Scholarship to study economics at the University of Melbourne.

Mitch Francis and Alana Bird studied and undertook internships in Malaysia under DFAT’s New Colombo Plan. Mitch studied at Universiti Malaya and worked with Australian multinational Lendlease.

At 18, Diana Chan moved from Johor Bahru to Melbourne to study commerce at Deakin University. In 2017, she became the second Malaysian-born to win MasterChef Australia.

Faiz Kamaludin is a Malaysia Airlines Captain who’s flown for 30 years. He studied at the Civil Air Training Academy in Cessnock and a Master in Aviation Management at the University of Newcastle, which gave him the leadership skills to become the captain he is today.

KL-born designer and theatre-maker Govin Ruben majored in production design at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, where the multifaceted training allowed him to establish his company TerryandtheCuz, which tells stories across dance, theatre, puppetry and art.
